When there were neither the creation, nor the sun, the moon, the planets, & the earth, when the darkness was enveloped in darkness, then the Mother, the Formless One, Maha Kali, the Great Power, was one with the Maha Kala, the Absolute. She takes away the darkness from anyone who strives in the path of perfection by performing the spiritual discipline. Just as all the colors of the spectrum mix into black, yet still black remains black, so does Kali, who is completely Dark, Unknowable, takes away all the Darkness. Kali’s nudity has a similar meaning. In many stories they say that she is “dressed” in space or sky clad. In her nakedness she is free from all covering of illusion. She is Nature stripped of ‘clothes’. It symbolizes that she is completely beyond name & form, completely beyond the illusory effects of maya (false consciousness). Her nudity is said to represent totally illumined consciousness, unaffected by maya. Kali is the bright fire of truth, which cannot be hidden by the clothes of ignorance. The words around her say: “om kreem kalikaye namah” which is mantra that can be used to invoke her & help you overcome any dark times in your life!

Like I said in my last post…I’ve been slipping y’all! I’m so sorry. Anyway I’m excited because this post is about the 3rd eye! The 3rd eye is my favorite chakra…probably because (according to this chakra test I took) it’s my most active chakra. It’s true! I have a keen intuition & I’m the dreamer amongst all of my friends because my head is always in the clouds. I’m sure you’re wondering what chakras are. Well according to mindbodygreen.com chakras are  the energy centers in our body in which energy flows through. Blocked energy in our 7 Chakras can often lead to illness so it’s important to understand what each chakra represents & what we can do to keep this energy flowing freely. Let me tell you a bit more about the 3rd eye chakra…

The 3rd eye chakra transcends time & is located at the brow, above the base of the nose. The gift of this chakra is seeing both the inner & outter worlds. The energy of this chakra allows us to experience clear thought as well as gifts of spiritual contemplation & self reflection. Through the gift of seeing we can internalize the outter world. & With symbolic language we can externalize the inner worlds. The energy of this chakra allows us to access our inner guidance that comes from the depths of our being. It allows us to cut through illusion & to access deeper truths to see beyond the mind & beyond the worlds. The third eye sees everything as it is from a point of “witness” or “observer”, or from simply being mindful moment by moment. Examines self limiting ideas & developing wisdom that comes from a perspective that transcends the duality of good or bad, black or white. Means seeing & helping others to see the deeper meanings to situations in their lives. When activated both sides of the brain function in harmony.
